When my boys were each a year old, I drove more than 200 miles to have them photographed in another city, by an artist who’s work I had fallen in love with. It was important to me to capture their true expressions – the essence of their personalities. While I’ll admit that the drive may seem a bit extreme, the finished artwork that we received is something our family will treasure forever. I believe that many parents share my goal to see their children in print, the way that they see them in life – and now my hope is to pass that gift on to other families.
Photography is a second career for me. I have always been a very visual and artistic person. From the time I graduated from college until I decided to stay home to raise my boys, I was immersed in the business side of the advertising world, surrounded by creative people – artists, designers, photographers and brilliant business visionaries. I was lucky enough to “art direct” many different projects over the years. While I wasn’t the one behind the lens, I developed a keen eye for what worked and what didn’t. The desire to flex my creative muscle, run my own business and show my boys that anything is possible pushed me in a different direction.
I have a truly amazing husband, two feisty and loveable boys, exceptional parents, a large and wonderful group of in-laws and an amazing group of girlfriends who support me in so many ways, and whom I regard like sisters. I love belly laughs, great shoes, dark chocolate, guacamole, travel, gardening, jeans and t-shirts, coffee, and a good, sweaty workout. I thank God every day for all of the blessings in my life.
